What is the Lean Office Game?

The LeanActivity Office Game is an interactive training tool designed to introduce Lean principles into office and administrative environments. During a 4-hour session with 6–12 participants, teams actively apply Lean methods in a practical meeting room setting. As a result, the participants learn not only the theory but also how Lean directly improves their daily work.

How to Play the Game.

You set up the game. After that, the video moderation guides the players all the way to the end.

The LeanActivity Office Game is prepared by you as the facilitator. However, the actual training is guided entirely by video instructions from the online platform. Once the model is ready, you simply start the videos and participants complete the 4-hour training session independently. This structure makes the game straightforward, reliable, and engaging.

Most frequently asked Questions.

Got questions? We've got answers - straight from the shop floor.

How many players can join the LeanActivity Office Game?

One game set allows 6-12 participants to play simultaneously in a training session. However, if more players are involved, a second game set can easily be added. In that case, two groups train in the same room, running through the game in parallel. As a result, this setup often creates a healthy sense of competition, which further boosts engagement and enthusiasm.

How long does a session take?

A standard training session usually lasts 4 hours. However, the duration can be flexibly adjusted to meet your specific needs. For example, if you plan to integrate additional content, the training can be extended and even spread across multiple days. In fact, some trainers use the game as a "red thread" for multi-day workshops, starting with the first round in the morning, combining it with custom content in the afternoon, and continuing with additional rounds on the following days. On the other hand, the training can also be shortened if the focus is placed only on specific Lean tools. As a result, the LeanActivity Office Game adapts easily to different training formats.

Who is the game designed for?

The game is suitable for organizations with complex or process-heavy office and administrative workflows, especially in environments where multiple roles, departments, and interfaces are involved. In addition, universities and consulting firms make use of the LeanActivity Office Game to enrich their teaching portfolio and strengthen their unique value proposition. As a result, the game provides real value across education, consulting, and corporate practice.

How is the game shipped?

We ship internationally via DHL, ensuring reliable delivery worldwide. In addition, export and customs declarations are fully handled by us, so you do not need to worry about paperwork. Depending on the destination, delivery from Germany or within the EU usually takes between 1 to 4 weeks. If you have specific shipping questions, simply reach out to us and we will be happy to assist.

Which Lean tools are included in the training content?

The game provides in-depth learning on the fundamentals of Lean Management and the Toyota Production System. In particular, it highlights the Lean philosophy for office environments and the 8 types of waste. As a result, participants gain both theoretical understanding and practical skills.

Tools and Methods Practiced

  • 5S, Standardization, Visualization, Visual Management
  • Value Stream Design, Process Flow & Process Mapping
  • Team Boards & Team Meetings
  • FIFO Principle and One-Piece-Flow
  • Idea Management, Office Kanban, and many more

Through this combination, players experience Lean in a structured and engaging way, which makes it easier to apply the concepts back at work.

What's included in the package?

Each LeanActivity Office Game comes in a durable travel trolley, which can even be taken on an airplane. As a result, it is ideal for trainers who deliver sessions at multiple locations. In addition, the set includes all the game elements required for the simulation, along with access to the online platform that provides step-by-step video moderation and facilitation guides.

Do I need to moderate the game as a trainer?

No external moderation is required, as the game is fully facilitated by the online platform. The video instructions clearly explain Lean methodologies and guide participants through each round of the game. In addition, trainers may choose to add their own expertise, provide further explanations, or answer more in-depth questions, although this is entirely optional. As a result, the game is designed to run smoothly and independently, ensuring a consistent training experience.

Is the game suitable for executives and top management?

Absolutely, many companies use the game in executive workshops as a strategic tool. In particular, top managers benefit from a condensed version that highlights Lean principles in action. As a result, participants gain a powerful, eye-opening experience without needing a full day of play.

Do consulting firms use the LeanActivity Office Game?

Yes, consulting firms worldwide use the LeanActivity Office Game to enhance their Lean programs. In addition, it allows them to integrate their own content with the game, extending sessions over multiple days. As a result, clients enjoy a highly interactive and memorable learning experience that reinforces key Lean concepts.

What makes the LeanActivity Office Game unique?

Unlike traditional trainings, the LeanActivity Office Game provides a realistic simulation of office and administrative processes. In particular, participants experience real cases, authentic challenges, and dynamic workflows that mirror the complexity of everyday office life. As a result, this realism creates an immediate connection between the training and participants' own work environment, ensuring that lessons learned can be applied directly in practice.

How does the game create engagement?

By combining hands-on play, teamwork, and a sense of competition, the LeanActivity Office Game creates an exciting and motivating atmosphere. In addition, participants don't just learn Lean concepts theoretically; they experience the effects of Lean methods first-hand. As a result, this approach boosts both engagement and long-term retention of knowledge.

Do I need the LeanActivity Factory Game to play the Office Game?

No, both games are completely independent and come with their own unique materials and setups. The Factory Game focuses on production processes, whereas the LeanActivity Office Game addresses Lean principles in administrative areas. In addition, they can be combined for extended Lean training programs, although each game works perfectly as a standalone experience.
